Dreams and Shorts

Sebastian on Dreams: "Mommy, do you know what my favorite dream is? The one where we put lots of little circle things on the furniture and then it comes alive and has faces and it goes places with us and talks to us, I like that dream. Have you had that dream Mommy? I don't like the dream where there are lots of holes in the grass and snakes made the holes. Have you had that dream Mommy?  Well, I will send you those dreams. I will send them by whispering them in your ear and then you will have them."

Sebastian on Jean Shorts, or as he calls them, Short Pants: Sebastian comes out of his room wearing a brown striped shirt and blue plaid shorts.  I tell him that he can't wear that as they do not match, but to put on some jean shorts.
S: "Why? Do jean shorts match?"
Me: "Yes, jean shorts match almost everything."
S: "Jean shorts match everything?"
Me: "yes"
S: "Then I am going to call them "wild shorts" because they go with everything."
He meant they go with everything, like a "Wild card."

The Garden

We finally have a garden. Building this garden has been a very long process. In order to have enough sunlight, Patrick had to chop down four trees and pull out the roots for one of those trees. Here is all of the work, in picture. =)

These are the only pictures, that I can find, of our yard before we started doing any work. You can see five trees (one of which is VERY tiny), now, three of those (the three biggest) are the only trees left in our yard.

Here is another picture looking toward where the garden is now. You can also see the little landscaped area in the middle of the yard.

This is the location of my herb garden and strawberry bed. At this point, I didn't know what I wanted to do with it, I just knew that I wanted to get a lot of those rocks out of the middle of our yard.

This is where the home of the stump and roots that had to make way for the garden.

A hard worker.

Some of our wood from the chopping down of trees.

Future location of garden.

The infamous stump.

Branches from tree removal.

Building the garden frame.

Attempting to get this area into shape.

Neatly stacked wood. (In the summer, the home of large black snakes, ugg.)

A hole in our yard that had to be filled in.

The building of the individual raised beds.

Vies of the garden, filled in hole, and the place in the yard where grass formerly did not grow due to too many trees.

The future garden. (And the place where I sprained a wrist and an ankle while pregnant, all within two weeks. After that, I stopped helping in the garden. )

It was all a lot of work.

The completed garden. YAY!

This is what I finally did with the rocks, an herb garden and strawberry bed.

Looking good! Now we shall have to see if we are capable of growing food.

Skootching

Evelyn doesn't crawl, she skootches, across the floor. Sebastian really loves this and tends to yell out, "she's skootching." He also likes to play tag with her, he runs away and waits while she "very slowly" follows him. He LOVES this, and gets very upset if she gets distracted by anything and turns away from him. She has recently discovered that our front door is glass and that she can see out of it. These pictures are from her crawling around at the front door. The downside of all this mobility is that the area from which she can find things on the ground to eat has increased dramatically. She seems to have a homing device for all things choke-able and loves to eat EVERYTHING. This of course makes my life a bit difficult as it means that I am vacuuming, ALL the time.

I don't know exactly what she is doing here.

Master Bedroom

Since I just spent a week working on spring cleaning, I thought that I would take some pictures of rooms while they were looking their best. Here are a few of our bedroom. We are finally, almost, done decorating our bedroom, at least with the big stuff. I have tons that I want to do to make it look really nice and "finished" I just do not know exactly what. One of my favorite designers is Candace, from "Divine Design". I love the look of some of the rooms that she finishes. This one, for example, is gorgeous. I would actually love that yellow throw rug and white and blue floral chair in my own bedroom. Alas, I am terrible at decorating. I can refinish furniture (hence the matching television stand and bookcase) but I am terrible with the finishing touches.

Our room from the doorway.

We are planning on doing something different on the wall over the bed, something really big. We just are not yet certain what that "something" shall be.

I am attempting to put some stuff on top of my dresser (and I don't me mess but rather decorations.) Since Patrick doesn't like flowers in decorations, I want lots of girly (Chrystal and silver and jewels) on top of my dresser.

And here are the pieces of refinished furniture.

Easter

After Easter services on Sunday, most of our family was able to spend the day at my parent's house. Of course, Philip and Melinda, et all, were sorely missed. Despite their absence we had a lovely time, especially as the older boy children just ran around the yard all afternoon, playing very nicely together. This of course meant that we adults were able to sit on the deck and chat and then play some lawn games of our own. These pictures all came from my brother Patrick as I, of course, forgot to take the camera.

Family Easter picture

We tried to take a picture of the girls, but it didn't work out so well.

So, instead we took a picture of the girls and their mothers.

Bowling

Back in early March we decided to have a family day and we took Sebastian bowling. We had two lanes, one for S. with bumpers, and one for us, without. I haven't bowled in about four years so my bowling skill were a bit below par (hence no photographs or mentions of my score) but Sebastian did pretty well.

Here is a video of Sebastian bowling. If you are wondering what he is saying, he was chanting, "go ball, go ball, go ball" as it went towards the pins. When Patrick showed Sebastian how to bowl, he said to say, "go ball" to encourage the ball to move. Sebastian took this quite literally. Though, when he talks it sounds more like "gobble gobble gobble". Of course, Sebastian's favorite part of bowling was watching the ball come back up the conveyor belt. Sometimes, in his hurry to get back to watch his ball, he would forget to even watch his ball hit the pins.
