I originally started this blog in order to share my thoughts about everything. However, I apparently have fewer thoughts than I supposed so, it has turned into a basic journal of what our family is up to these days.

First Day of Homeschooling
We have finally started homeschooling. I say "finally" because I have been thinking about and planning on homeschooling Sebastian ever since I was pregnant with him. Last Monday was our first day and we are loving it. I decided that this year would be an introduction to homeschooling before his "officially" starts Kindergarten. (I want him to be in K. at age 5 turning 6 so that he goes to college when 18 turning 19.) Technically then, he is in preschool, but preschool work consists of things like, "learning to count to ten" and "recognizing your shapes and colors." Things that Sebastian is past. Thus, the beauty of homeschooling, I can pick and choose whatever I want to teach him. We are focusing on reading and writing right now, but I also read to him from an Animal Encyclopedia, for Science, and chapters from A Child's History of the World for History. He also memorizes a Bible verse a week. Then, on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, we do "homeschool" from 8-9 and he loves it. Afterward we can go for a walk before Evelyn's nap and then he still has lots of time to play. The point of all of this though, was for him to get use to some sort of order and routine versus just doing what he wants, when he wants. Now, Mon.-Wed. He wakes up, gets dressed, makes his bed, eats breakfast, brushes his teeth, and does schoolwork. Now, hopefully, next year when we start doing school five days a week he will be a bit more ready for it. Here are pictures from his first day of school.
