Kitchen Counters

We recently tiled our kitchen counters.  Rather, I should say that Patrick and Dad tiled our kitchen counters.  Along with tiling they also raised the cupboards and microwave that were above the stove. (Formerly they were 13 inches above the stove top and they are now 16.5 inches above the stove top.)  The added height makes cooking on the stove a lot easier.  We still have to put in the backsplash and repaint the kitchen, but here is what has been done so far.

Prepping the counters for the tile.

Dad laying tile.

Sebastian, ready to get to work.

The counters, before they were grouted or had the nice wood on the front.

At this point I was not so sure about our choice of black tiles as I thought it looked like a tarp.

Raising the cupboard.

The microwave, so nice and high, and the counters with the correct wood in place.

Now I like the black.

The backsplash.

This is the point where Patrick discovered that the tile they just laid was defective.  (You can see him at the computer discovering)  More on that part another time.
